Every day 800 women and 7,000 newborns die during childbirth, pregnancy, or the period after. Most of these deaths are preventable if the health care workers are in possession of the right skills, knowledge and resources. Unfortunately, few have up-to-date, guideline-adherent, easy to understand job aids; and ineffective, infrequent or non-existent training means many do not get the education they need. The Safe Delivery App is the only digital tool supported by strong evidence to train and equip skilled birth attendants to handle emergencies during childbirth, rapidly scaling in low-and-middle-income countries. The App provides health workers instant, evidence-based and up-to-date clinical guidelines on how to handle complications around birth and contains simple, animated instruction videos, practical procedures, action cards, drug lists and interactive learning.
