Electric Vehicle Initiative (EVI)

The Electric Vehicles Initiative (EVI) is a multi-government policy forum dedicated to accelerating the introduction and adoption of electric vehicles worldwide. In 2010, EVI was one of several initiatives launched under the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), a high-level dialogue among Energy Ministers from the world’s major economies. In 2018, EVI counts 16 member countries from five continents: Canada, Chile, China, Finland, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States. Canada and China are the EVI co-leads and the International Energy Agency serves as the EVI Co-ordinator. This unique platform gathers the most advanced electric vehicle markets worldwide as well as countries who are looking to progress in the electric mobility transition with great ambition. This policy dialogue fosters experience and knowledge-sharing leading to better electric mobility policies in the participating countries and beyond. The open approach of EVI also allows for a multitude of sub-national governments, expert research organisations, foundations, NGOs and private businesses to take part in the EVI dialogue and contribute to maximising the impact of EVI activities.
