The Western Balkans are part of Europe, surrounded by EU member states. Organized crime has a strong foothold within this strategic entry point to Europe. The ‘Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans’ project, funded by the EU and Germany, follows crime across borders by immediately responding to investigations and leading them to prosecution. This project promotes innovative investigation tools, supports legislation and facilitates international exchanges to establish mutual trust and contribute to security within the Western Balkan region and the EU.
