Radio Al-Salam 94.3 FM is a local radio station led by and dedicated to internally displaced persons, refugees and returnees, in the North of Iraq. Founded in March 2015, the station broadcasts in Erbil, Dohuk and Nineveh governorates, on its website and via its smartphone application. 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, in Arabic and Kurdish, Radio Al-Salam provides a space for testimonies and exchanges through daily reports and interviews, regardless of religious and ethnic backgrounds. It aims at creating a bridge between the various communities of Iraq, in order to facilitate a mutual understanding and trust. According to the United Nations, in January 2018 246,000 Syrian refugees and 1,500,000 displaced Iraqis were in Radio Al-Salam’s broadcasting area.
