The Schools of Forgiveness and Reconciliation (ESPERE or HOPE) were created with the aim of promoting a Culture of Peace in vulnerable and violent contexts. This innovative program has been put in place for millions of people, who have managed to overcome some of the effects of violence through a reflexive and fun process on Forgiveness and Reconciliation. This proposal is based on pedagogical methodologies that allow certain tools and skills to be transmitted to participants so that they can be key actors in discussions concerning the pain and injustice felt by victims of aggression. HOPE aims to understand the reasons and consequences of violence in order to prevent future occurrences. These schools were set up in 23 countries around the world, consolidating a culture of peace among communities that have been victims of armed conflict, violence, stigma and discrimination. Through its psychosocial perspective, ESPERE/HOPE contributes to developing daily pacifist practices that promote communial living, in order to rebuild the social fabric that has been degraded by violence. Once participants restore their social skills, livelihoods and safety, it is possible to realize that the process increases their autonomy and empowerment.
