AI Action Summit: the Paris Peace Forum launches a global “Call for AI Projects” to encourage the use of artificial intelligence for the common good

Paris, 30 August 2024 - Could AI be at the heart of solutions to our global challenges? As part of the AI Action Summit, taking place on 10-11 February 2025 in Paris, the Paris Peace Forum is launching an ambitious Call for Projects focused on AI.

The AI revolution is bringing about major changes in our lives, our jobs and our societies, and these can divide us in new, unprecedented ways. Faced with these upheavals, we need to ensure that these new technologies can benefit everyone.

Our Call for AI Projects aims to identify, present and support initiatives from around the world in the field of artificial intelligence: use cases to improve the lives of citizens or respond to the great challenges of our time, but also approaches to AI framing and governance. Selected projects will be presented at the AI Action Summit, to which the Paris Peace Forum is contributing as a multi-stakeholder coordinator, offering an international platform for sharing and promoting innovative and inclusive solutions.

The Call for AI Projects is intended to encourage greater openness of the Summit to international civil society and promote participation from the Global South, highlighting initiatives from all backgrounds. This new call is part of the Paris Peace Forum's ongoing work on innovative global governance solutions (over 500 projects selected and presented since 2018).

The Call for AI Projects is organized around five key themes:

  1. 1. Trust in Democracy, Information, Safety and Security
  2. 2. AI and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  3. 3. Work and Well-being
  4. 4. Governance, Ethics, Responsibility and Crisis Response
  5. 5. Culture

Terms of the Call for Projects:

The Paris Peace Forum will open applications on 3 September 2024, with a submission deadline of 7 October 2024 at 23:59 CET. A jury of experts will select up to 50 projects to be announced in mid-December 2024 for representation at the Summit on 10-11 February 2025. Selected projects will benefit from international visibility, networking opportunities with experts and decision-makers, and integration into the global community of innovators for the common good.

Eligibility criteria:

Applications must be submitted by organizations, not individuals, and must align with the Summit's key themes. Projects must present a certain level of progress, be at least in the pilot phase and not just in the design or start-up phase, and involve a concrete, tangible and distinct solution.

Research or academic work without concrete implementation will not be considered eligible, but this Call for AI Projects is part of a wider program where contributions and achievements from academia, the private sector, the public and civil society will be presented at the Summit.

Submission of applications:

Applications must be submitted via the online form which will be available on our site from Tuesday 3rd of September. Submissions received after the deadline of 7 October 2024 at 23:59 CET will not be considered.
