Qudra – Resilience for Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities in response to the Syrian and Iraqi Crises

"Qudra – Resilience for Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities in response to the Syrian and Iraqi Crises" Qudra is the Arabic word for ‘strength', ‘ability’ or ‘resilience.’ The programme "Qudra – Resilience for Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities in response to the Syrian and Iraqi Crises" follows an innovative approach. It is implemented since 2016 (PHASE I: June 2016 – June 2019) as a result of a Multi Donor Action financed by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis (MADAD) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Four European Development Agencies cooperate under the lead of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in four countries with five modules, regional, cross-country and cross-sectoral, whereas the guiding focus is “Qudra for Peace and Development”. Qudra employs various formats and channels of communication, some of them one-way, others fostering interactive dialogue as a key for interregional exchange and collaboration in joint projects. Another challenge is fostering the ownership of host communities and refugees. Therefore, we work with participatory approaches and a self-identification methodology of challenges in the communities. The regional approach provides many opportunities for knowledge exchange and transfer. It is conducive for a vital culture of cooperation.
